City

City was in turmoil
From head to toe
Gangs of youth and lust
Raped the virginity of walls
As their ancestors cultivated the land
Teenage girls of twelve became mothers
Headless children of bleak future
Were born from barrel of gun
In ghettos and low income neighborhoods
A boy of old generation
Shot the blackboard in math class
In the heart of equal sign of 1=1
He understood math, but
In his town of many
One was not equal one
