I was a soldier
Served in many wars
many invasions
I have been killed many times
all over the world
in different fronts
Wounded so often than I cannot remember
I fought Indians
I fought British
I fought in Texas
In Europe, Africa, Asia
I lost legs, arms, and my body
I fought in Vietnam
Fifty seven thousands times I was killed
I lost my dignity
my respect
In the eyes of my fellow countrymen
I fought In Golf
I came home and suffered from Golf syndrome
and I was denied the truth
I was denied treatment
I was called hero
The whole country rose up on my return
My fellow countrymen
praised me and waved flags
Governors and mayors
Congressmen and senators
President and First Lady
all use my name
my sacrifices
my wounds and blood
my body and sole
for their ambitions
to consolidates their positions
I was told my fight is for
Human rights
For safety and security
and weapons of mass destruction
I shed blood
I died many times
in the arms of my comrades
I lost my sole in deserts
my humanity
I fought for humanity
but I destroyed humans
I fought for security
but I created chaos
I fought terrorism
but I created more terrorists
I fought against poverty
and I created an army of poor
I fought against palaces in Iraq
to create more palaces and mansions at home
I have been a pawn in the game of political chess
No less, no more
I was discharged with honor
to be a veteran
I am home again
Festivity is over
banners are folded for my next return
from another war
another invasion
another destruction
I am standing alone
in the middle of the square
and forgotten
No recognition and homeless
I am an US veteran
with a Purple Heart medallion
hanging on his uniform
Soldier of many wars
Forgotten relic of military machine
