HOPE

It was the time of sadness and sorrow
The sky was dark and saw no tomorrow
My heart was broken, a bowl of blood
My chest a volcano of molten flood
Streets were graveyard of moving dead
No morning, no noon, dusk of eternal red
Then I met Max, a veteran of old age
Who had seen life and death to become sage
He told me the story of a man with one shoe
In ice and snow, running in pursue
A sorry and sad man for bare foot
Desiring to be happy with another boot
Then he met a man with one leg
Chained to earth as a beast to peg
He forgot his sadness in man’s sorrow
And remembered a brighter tomorrow
